Apple is offering a job in the US that has nothing to do with iPhones, Macs, or other Apple products. The company is hiring an iCup Supply Specialist in Santa Clara, California, focused on maintaining Apple’s coffee machines and ensuring employees have access to fresh coffee.
The position offers a base pay of USD 27.75 to USD 36.05 per hour, which translates to approximately Rs. 2,670 to Rs. 3,500 per hour. At the upper end, that works out to nearly Rs. 28,000 a day, based on an eight-hour working day.
According to Apple’s job listing, the person hired will be responsible for maintaining up to 90 bean-to-cup coffee machines. The role includes keeping the machines clean, ensuring they work properly, and making sure they remain stocked with coffee beans and other supplies.
Apple says the job is focused on providing employees with a good coffee experience at work.
Day-to-day responsibilities include refilling coffee beans and supplies, cleaning food-contact surfaces inside the machines, running a route, responding to service calls, and communicating with building managers and administrators. The position will report to the iCup Service Supervisor.
“At Apple, we take coffee seriously,” the company wrote in the job listing.
Candidates must have a high school diploma and knowledge of basic food safety practices. Apple prefers applicants with previous experience in route management, delivery, customer service, warehouse work or grocery work.
A valid driver’s license is mandatory because the employee must travel between different locations. Candidates must also have a clean driving record and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Apple lists being ‘Extraordinarily Service Oriented’ among the qualities expected from candidates. The company is also seeking people who can solve problems, communicate effectively and make decisions.
Along with the hourly pay, the position includes employee benefits such as medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, discounts on Apple products and services, and certain education-related expenses.
The unusual role highlights the range of jobs required to support Apple’s large workplace operations, extending well beyond products and services for which the company is best known.
