Apple removed several older devices from its lineup after launching the iPhone 18 Pro series on September 9. The cleanup affects iPhones, Apple Watch models, and AirPods, as Apple pushes newer hardware across its ecosystem. The company removed the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max after introducing their successors at its September event in Cupertino, California.

Apple also discontinued the Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3, Apple Watch SE 2, and AirPods 4 after launching newer versions. The company used the annual hardware refresh to simplify its product lineup and give newer models more space across stores. Apple replaced the watches with Series 12, Ultra 4, and SE 3, while AirPods 5 now occupies the entry-level audio position.

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max now sit outside Apple’s official store lineup. Third-party retailers can still sell remaining units while available stock lasts. This could create short-term discounts as sellers clear older inventory before newer devices dominate demand.

Apple’s latest Pro models start at Rs. 1,64,900 in India, while the Pro Max starts at Rs. 1,79,900. Both models bring the A20 Pro chip, a variable aperture camera, and the new C2 modem.

The standard iPhone 17 remains available, giving Apple a lower-priced flagship option for now. Apple skipped the regular iPhone 18 during September’s event, with reports pointing toward a spring 2027 launch.

Apple’s strategy also extends beyond phones and watches as newer products take priority. AirPods 5 add stronger noise cancellation, Live Translation, and Siri AI features over the outgoing AirPods 4.

Discontinuation does not immediately make older Apple devices obsolete. Existing models can continue receiving software updates and repair support after leaving Apple’s sales lineup.

For buyers, the biggest opportunity now sits with remaining third-party inventory. Older Pro iPhones and Apple Watch models could receive discounts before retailers exhaust their remaining stock.
