During a larger, albeit muted, advance in the cryptocurrency markets, Ethereum (ETH) surged above US$2,200 on Sunday, and Bitcoin (BTC) exceeded $40,000 for the first time since early May 2022. According to CoinDesk Indicies data, the price of bitcoin finally broke beyond the US$40,000 mark on Sunday, a jump of almost 3% in just 24 hours. The price had been flirting with the US$40,000 mark in recent days.
