Meta's Big Connect Event is here yet techies are not impressed with its innovations

Meta's Big Connect event revealed several new innovations that the company has been stocking up on for a long time now. It debuted the much-anticipated Quest Pro headset for working professionals. Even though the already leaked product did little to trigger excitement in the tech community, it was the tech giant's shift in focus to develop more enterprise and business applications that pissed the tech community. The company also announced several new partnerships with tech companies like Microsoft, Adobe, Zoom, and others, and its expansion into the AR, VR, and metaverse domains to offer services to individual and institutional customers.

Apart from the hyped VR headset, Meta also announced that it is turning Horizon Worlds from just a meme to a working, legitimate, social networking, collaboration, and entertainment destination. Not only the avatars in this world are getting legs, but are also getting brand new collaboration initiatives in the form of Horizon Workrooms. These collaborative spaces are at the center of the company's new business strategy. The space will offer a place where the VR headset wearers and those simply sitting at a desk, or even using a smartphone while having a conversation somewhere else can come together to chat, view 3D models, collaborate, and achieve organizational goals instantly.

One of the most exciting bits of the Big Connect Event in 2022 was the introduction of Microsoft games. Earlier, Microsoft revealed that its Xbox Cloud Gaming service that will be available soon on Meta's Oculus Quest 2. This indicates that the users will be able to connect an Xbox controller to play their cloud gaming titles on the giant, virtual screens while sitting in their homes.

Experts say that the Big Connect Event did not show the full potential of Meta, however, its changing focuses might actually prove to be profitable given Meta's failed attempts in establishing its metaverse foothold.
