Primary Responsibilities

As a Business Intelligence Engineer at Amazon, you will:

  • Advanced SQL skills to write complex queries and stored procedures for extracting, transforming, and analyzing large datasets

  • Strong knowledge of Python (knowledge of pandas and pySpark preferred), ETL, and data manipulation.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn business requests into elegant data solutions.

  • Experience designing and building ETL pipelines capable of retaining previously static data collections, in a way that large volumes of data can still be displayed in a predictable, reasonable time frame.

  • Data modeling/knowledge of indexing to improve data queries found in logical and physical Databases.

  • Understanding complexity in data sources, file formats, and, importantly, the ability to integrate disparate data into a row structure, regardless of shape or form.

  • Experiences developing and maintaining a Data warehouse using a Data lake.

  • Demonstrates BI mastery with thought in mind, particularly in visualization or dashboard creation.

  • Knows how to thrive in ambiguity, where you understand empirical data requirements, and recommend solutions to transcend uncertainty.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to relay technical concepts and data-related insights to technical as well as non-technical individuals.

  • Always show strong customer orientation to help the business add value to data processes.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience analyzing and interpreting data using Redshift, Oracle, or NoSQL.

  • Proficiency with SQL and scripting languages like Python, Java, or R.

  • Experience with Tableau, Quicksight, or similar BI visualization tools.

  • Skilled in building ETL pipelines, data models, and statistical analysis (e.g., regression).

  • Ability to gather business requirements and build insightful, automated reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or an Advanced technical degree.

  • Knowledge of data modeling and data pipeline design.

  • Experience with statistical analysis and correlation analysis.

  • Experience in designing and implementing custom reporting systems using automation tools.
