IBM is seeking an AI Compiler Engineer skilled in the design of compilers and backend development in C++. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and deploying the AI compiler for IBM Z systems, with a focus on creating scalable, reliable, and efficient AI technology solutions.
To be successful in this position, candidates must demonstrate thorough knowledge of AI/ML and have experience implementing AI technology at the system level.
In this position, the candidate's duties include:
Overseeing the development and deployment of AI Compilers at the system level, employing extensive expertise in AI/ML and data science to ensure that the compiler design scales, operates reliably, and is efficient.
Managing and optimizing frameworks for AI device-specific compilers, progressively guiding the resolution of more complex problems and potential solutions.
Work directly with cross-functional teams in an interactive manner to continuously iterate and improve performance.
Self-propelled to remain knowledgeable about the advancement of AI/ML technologies, contribute to frameworks and libraries when applicable, and foster innovation through new ideas.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to articulate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience, and help lead discussions and recommendations.
Support adherence to the AI engineering lifecycle with best industry practices and standards. Maintain the same level of expectations for code quality, performance, and security across the entire engineering lifecycle.
Bachelor's Degree (Required education)

Deep experience in demonstrating coding skills, teaming capabilities, and end-to-end understanding of Enterprise AI products.
Extensive experience in both machine learning and deep learning domains. Proficient knowledge in MLIR and other AI compilers, such as XLA and TVM.
Strong understanding of AI-based accelerators, including GPU, TPU, Gaudi, Habana, etc.
Ability to excel in product design, design principles, and integration with various other enterprise products.
Familiarity with classic AI priorities centered on machine learning and deep learning libraries, and AI field compliance.
Familiarity with ML and AI model serving technologies, such as Triton inference server, TGIS, vLLM, with experience leading teams on the production utilization of models.
Skilled in creating the best data pipeline architecture for AI applications, owning the design of scalable and efficient solutions.
Skilled in using backend C/C++, plus existing experience in the integration of AI technology into full-stack applications.
Demonstrated understanding of integrating AI technologies into complex full-stack applications, along with strong programming skills in Python and systems-oriented programming skills.
Proven ability in problem-solving and analytics skills, including experience with optimizing performance and scaling the capabilities of AI algorithms.
Leadership responsibilities in improvement initiatives to increase the productivity and efficiency of AI solutions.
Over 13 years of proven leadership in AI/ML and Data Science, leading the design and deployment of internally developed AI models in production environments, with an emphasis on scalability, response time, and productivity.
Ownership mentality, making certain that the work is seen through to completion, and performed with precision and due diligence.
Skills in compiler design, for instance, experience in LLVM, and some degree of familiarity with fundamental principles in compiler development.
Demonstrated intellectual curiosity in lifelong learning and awareness of recent advances in ML/AI technologies.
Demonstrated skills to help evolve and develop AI frameworks and libraries.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; able to speak about technical topics with a non-technical expert.
