Humanizing the Digital World Through Purposeful Innovation: Lax Gopisetty

Market Trends

Technology is no longer simply transforming how organizations operate, it is redefining what they can achieve, how they serve people, and the kind of value they can create for the future. At this pivotal intersection of technology, business, and human impact, Lax Gopisetty has spent more than three decades helping organizations turn emerging technologies into meaningful, scalable outcomes.

As Chief Executive Officer of Infosys Public Services (IPS), an Infosys subsidiary serving public sector organizations in the United States and Canada, Gopisetty brings a perspective shaped by decades of working across complex industries and diverse markets. His leadership extends beyond technology adoption or business performance; it is centered on helping organizations rethink operating models, respond to disruption, and build capabilities that remain relevant in an increasingly AI-driven and digitally connected world.

What distinguishes Gopisetty's approach is his focus on technology as an enabler of broader transformation. From artificial intelligence, automation, and robotics to blockchain and emerging digital models, he looks beyond the technology itself to understand how innovation can improve experiences, strengthen institutions, create new business models, and generate sustainable value for stakeholders.

His career has spanned federal, state and local government, healthcare, manufacturing, insurance, financial services, utilities, education, and other sectors. This breadth has given him a unique understanding of how technological change affects organizations differently—and why successful transformation requires more than implementing new tools. It requires a combination of strategic vision, organizational adaptability, responsible innovation, and a clear understanding of the people ultimately affected by change.

In today's AI era, that perspective has become increasingly relevant. Organizations are moving from experimenting with emerging technologies to embedding AI, automation, intelligent systems, and data-driven decision-making into their core operations. Gopisetty's work reflects this broader shift: from digital transformation as a technology initiative to transformation as a catalyst for organizational and societal impact.

Throughout his career, he has also pioneered new offerings and business models in areas including sustainability, digital inclusivity, smart spaces, and last-mile front-office solutions. These initiatives reflect a belief that innovation is most powerful when it addresses real-world challenges and expands access to better services and opportunities.

Beyond his executive responsibilities, Gopisetty actively contributes to the wider innovation ecosystem as an industry speaker, mentor, investor, and advocate for disruptive technologies and business models. His engagement with startups and emerging ventures allows him to remain close to new ideas while helping the next generation of innovators navigate the path from experimentation to sustainable impact.

For Gopisetty, the future of enterprise transformation is therefore not defined by technology alone. It is about connecting innovation with purpose—using the capabilities of AI, automation, robotics, blockchain, and other emerging technologies to build organizations that are more adaptive, inclusive, efficient, and sustainable.

As enterprises enter an era where technological change is accelerating faster than ever, his three decades of experience offer a valuable perspective on what it takes to transform with intention: anticipate what is coming, embrace innovation responsibly, and ensure that technology ultimately creates lasting value for both organizations and the people they serve.

From technology to transformation

Gopisetty's career reflects the evolution of technology itself. He has witnessed the transition from traditional enterprise systems to cloud computing, digital platforms, artificial intelligence and increasingly connected ecosystems. But he has never viewed technology as an end in itself.

Instead, he sees it as an enabler of transformation.

Over the years, Gopisetty has built and scaled consulting businesses around this philosophy, helping organizations develop new business models, modernize operations and respond to changing regulatory and market environments. His experience has given him a perspective that combines technology expertise with an understanding of the organizational and human dimensions of transformation.

Before becoming CEO of Infosys Public Services, Gopisetty served as Global Vice President at Infosys and led the Business Applications and Digital Workspace Services business. During his tenure, he expanded the practice across the Americas, Europe and Asia, working across geographies and markets to create scalable technology and consulting capabilities.

His journey to Infosys included leadership roles at some of the world's leading professional services and technology organizations. As a Managing Director at Accenture, he led a segment of the Health and Public Services business in North America. Earlier in his career, he built high-growth practices at BearingPoint, IBM, PwC and HCL.

Each of these experiences added another layer to his understanding of how organizations change—and why some transformations succeed while others struggle.

The public sector opportunity

At Infosys Public Services, that experience takes on a particular significance.

Public sector organizations operate in an environment unlike any other. They must balance citizen expectations, regulatory requirements, budget constraints, legacy systems and rapidly evolving technology. At the same time, the stakes are enormous: decisions made by public agencies can affect millions of lives.

Gopisetty's approach is rooted in helping agencies navigate that complexity while keeping their purpose front and center.

He believes the future of government will increasingly depend on the ability to combine modern technology with thoughtful governance and human-centered design. Artificial intelligence, digital platforms and data-driven decision-making can transform public services, but their value ultimately depends on whether they make government more accessible, responsive and effective for citizens.

That perspective has also made Gopisetty a prominent voice on the broader implications of technology.

A voice for the future

Described as a technology evangelist, Gopisetty is a frequent speaker at analyst summits, industry conferences, trade commissions, startup ecosystems and industry conclaves. His areas of interest range from artificial intelligence and disruptive innovation to the future of work, digital governance and the humanization of the digital world.

What distinguishes his perspective is the breadth of issues he connects to technology.

For Gopisetty, the conversation about AI, for example, is not simply about algorithms or automation. It is also about people, organizations, ethics, inclusion and the kind of future businesses and governments want to create.

He frequently speaks about diversity, equity and inclusion, recognizing that technology-driven transformation cannot be considered successful if its benefits are not broadly shared. Similarly, his discussions around the future of work focus not merely on the jobs technology may change, but on how organizations can prepare people for a world in which human and digital capabilities increasingly work together.

This idea of building “future-ready purposeful enterprises” has become an important part of his leadership philosophy.

Investing in the next generation

Gopisetty's interest in innovation extends beyond large organizations. He is also actively involved in the startup ecosystem, mentoring several startups and ventures that are developing technology-led solutions designed to create meaningful change.

As a board member of multiple startup innovation accelerators, he contributes his experience to entrepreneurs who are attempting to turn ambitious ideas into sustainable businesses. His involvement reflects a belief that innovation does not belong exclusively to established corporations. Some of the most transformative ideas often emerge from smaller, more agile teams willing to challenge conventional thinking.

For young entrepreneurs, his experience across consulting, technology and business transformation offers a valuable perspective on what it takes to move an idea from possibility to impact.

Leadership with a sense of responsibility

Beyond corporate leadership and technology, there is another dimension to Gopisetty's story: a longstanding commitment to giving back.

He holds a master's degree in computer science as well as an executive master's in management, combining technical knowledge with business leadership. Yet his interests extend well beyond professional achievement.

For the past decade, he has been a member of the Board at Sparsh Palliative Care Services, an organization providing hospice services in India. His involvement reflects a deeply personal understanding of the importance of compassion and community alongside technology and business.

It is perhaps this combination of technology expertise, business experience and social responsibility that best captures Gopisetty's professional journey.

After three decades of working with organizations around the world, his focus is increasingly on what technology can make possible when it is guided by purpose.

The technologies may continue to change. Artificial intelligence will evolve, digital platforms will become more sophisticated and new business models will emerge. But the underlying challenge remains the same: using innovation to improve the way organizations serve their people and communities.

For Lax Gopisetty, that is ultimately what transformation is about not technology for technology's sake, but technology with a purpose.

And as he continues to lead Infosys Public Services, mentor emerging ventures and contribute to social causes, his career offers a reminder that the most enduring form of leadership may be the ability to connect innovation with impact, ambition with responsibility, and business success with a larger sense of purpose.
