OnePlus has brought a new AI model for its smartphones, especially to its flagship model OnePlus 13 that received its global release last week with uncountable praises from users. However, making phone models can’t be released without flaw evident, this latest model met criticisms for its excessive dependency on internet for almost every AI feature to work. Within a week, OnePlus released an update to make things even for users.
After the global launch in January 7, 2025, for the first time, OnePlus users have received an update that’s also with a one-stop-solution to all their problems and criticisms: Google Gemini Nano AI model. Google Gemini Nano is the smallest version of Google’s language model, which is designed in a way to run comfortably on any android device without any performance lag.
OnePlus 13 initially didn’t support Gemini Nano because it lacked the necessary Android AI Core app, which is required to get the AI language model. With this latest update OnePlus phones now met this requirement. Once the device is updated, open the Play Store to get the Android AI Core app to access Gemini Nano support.
Updating mobile devices are never been troublesome. Mostly, the device itself tells when an update becomes available to install. Therefore, as the OxyenOS 15 update becomes available to install under the CPH2655_15.0.0.402(EX01) build number, OnePlus 13 users will automatically get it.
To check if your phone has received this update or not, follow some easy steps:
1. Go to Settings
2. Click on System and Updates
3. Open Software update
4. Next click on the Download and Install option to update the device.
The update itself is around 1GB in size with the Android AI Core app taking 3GB. Though is the smallest LLM available, it still takes some space to run as it brings features like text summarization, and smart replies.

With this update, the Google Message app received the Magic Compose option in OnePlus 13. This latest feature ensures safety of messages to a great extent as it prevents messages from going to cloud and process them locally on the device. It maintains the privacy.
Currently, the Gemini Nano Support is restricted to the messaging app on OnePlus 13 devices, unlike Google Pixel 9, where it includes other features like Screenshot and Recorder.
