Baldur’s Gate 3 Mods Transform Faerun Into a Horror Playground

Baldur’s Gate 3 Modders Are Taking the In-Game Experience to A New Height with One Mod Turning the Gameplay Similar to A Horror Game.

Modders are taking over the biggest RPG released in 2023. Since Baldur’s Gate 3 was released, it has transformed the genre of role-playing games to some extent. Set in the universe of the Forgotten Realms, the visuals, gameplay, and characterization of the game have earned massive praise from players and critics. Therefore, it is natural that Larian Studios was careful about the game throughout.

It’s already been around two years since the game was released. So Larian Studios is reportedly shifting its attention from Baldur’s Gate 3 to new developments. However, modders are responsible for keeping the game exciting for the fans, even if the developer isn’t there for new content.

One Mod is Transforming Baldur’s Gate 3 Into A Horror Experience

Mods are common in the world of gaming. Modders often fill the part left behind by the developers while making a game. The creativity of the modders often results in interesting changes, like transforming the game’s protagonist into some popular anime character or adding new abilities to the protagonist that the actual game doesn’t offer, etc. Sometimes, mods even open ways for gamers to experience custom maps and modes in their favorite game.

Baldur’s Gate 3 already has a range of mods available for gamers to try and experience the RPG in a new way. Taking this trend to a new level, a modder named Moezilla has created the mod, Sell Your Lute to the Devil, which offers a completely unexpected in-game experience. Installing this mod instantly transforms the in-game world of Faerun into a dark and frightening world that generally features in horror games.

What Does Sell Your Lute to the Devil Offer?

The mod that Moezilla created is kind of a mini-DLC for Baldur’s Gate 3. This mod comes with a custom campaign that allows players to find a cursed lute and teleport them to The Grand Theatre, where a musical celebration is going on. Here’s the plot twist. This celebration hides a sinister secret that players need to find out and resolve.

As players keep playing, they will uncover that, in this festival, lovely bards are performing against their will because they are helpless in front of the magical power of the Red Wizards of Thay. Here, players will appear as saviors. They must take down the evil wizards to protect the talented musicians.

This mod not only features a different DLC-type storyline but also has its own music for the festival. The music players will listen to after teleporting to The Grand Theatre is designed by the modder himself and named Song of the Silverhand. That’s the best addition to the mod.

When is the Mod Coming Out?

Sell Your Lute to the Devil is not like other mods. It is going to offer a complete storyline to complete. Therefore, Moezilla requires time to work on it before he launches it. It is neither the biggest mod nor the most interesting one. Still, Baldur’s Gate 3 fans are waiting for it.

According to the modder, the mod will be officially launched toward the end of January. Additionally, about the development of this mod, he mentioned, “It’s going to be very limited for now, but, like, it took me three months to build this as a one-person show.”

Unlike other modders, Moezilla doesn’t have the plan to end the mod after its release. Instead, he has his plans ready to bring more versions to continue this storyline. Because Larian will not focus on this game sooner, it’s time for the modders to show their creativity, and Moezilla seems to have set the stage for other modders to create something grand.

Aside from Sell Your Lute to the Devil, two other mods are currently in the queue. One of them takes players to the streets of Baldur’s Gate 2, while the other one combines the world of BG3 with World of Warcraft. Anyway, no release date for these two mods has yet been shared.
