The Corrupt Daikan questline in Assassin’s Creed Shadows tasks players with eliminating six oppressive officials, unlocking rich narrative depth.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows offers a bunch of side quests. As players start progressing through the main story and interacting with different NPCs, they will unlock new side quests. It’s true that these side quests are not necessary to complete, but completion of these quests often rewards them with exciting items that help the story progression.
The Corrupt Daikan sidequest appears early in the game. It offers players a compelling opportunity to eliminate a chain of oppressive officials. These NPCs have been exploiting the people of Omi and surrounding regions.
If players are confused about their locations in the game, here’s everything one should know about the six officials and how to eliminate them in the game.
Before going further into the locations of these characters, players must know about the quest and how to unlock it. To start the Corrupt Daikan questline, players need to go through the main storyline and complete the An Education quest to unlock Yasuke.
Along with this completion, the side quest The Price of Rice will be available. Players have to complete this side quest as well. This mission takes them to meet Kuma, the key character who will introduce the Corrupt Daikan questline and task players with eliminating the corrupt officials. So, this quest should be completed to unlock the Corrupt Daikan questline and the locations of the six enemies.
Once the quest is triggered, players have to locate the targets and eliminate them one by one. If one is struggling to find the enemies, here are the locations:
The Sword Hunter is the first corrupted enemy that one can locate in the Nomura Village. This in-game location will be found between the Ibu Highlands and Suzuka Foothills. Once reached, the enemy will be spotted in a central courtyard. Players must use Naoe’s agility and grappling hook to climb the nearby tree and attack the enemy stealthily to execute a smooth assassination.
The next enemy is the Hoarder. This enemy resides at the Hongonji Temple in Kyoto. To access this enemy, players must complete the Price of Rice quest and keep progressing through the questline that involves The Mourner. Following the questline will automatically take players to the location of the target, where players will have the opportunity to assassinate dual targets together.
The third target on the list is the Hedonist, who can be found near the Omizo Castle. As players approach the location, they will find a small hut on the south side of the outer farmlands. Use Naoe here to creep under the building through a hole in the back. This will make the assassination easier.
The fourth enemy will be found in the Lower District of Otsu. This village is located in the southwest corner of Omi, and players will find the target at the southern side of the settlement. He lives in a group of houses covered by tall trees.
The fifth target is The Concubine, whom players will find in Kyoto, specifically the southeastern section of Kyoto. Progress toward the open-air theater located in the southeast of the Honno-ji Temple, and players will find the target. This enemy is comparatively easy to eliminate and won’t give players a hard time.
The final enemy is The Connoisseur, a foodie official who demands excessive food from the civilians. The enemy is located in Kanegasaki Castle, Wakasa. Sneak into his castle as Naoe and proceed to its northernmost section to find and assassinate the target.
Once players successfully complete the quest and eliminate all the targets, they can return to Kuma and meet Lady Nene at Kuma’s Hideout. She will give them the rewards for completing the task. The reward list includes:
Minogame’s Protection
Damage for Empty Armor Pieces
Gold x1
Side quests are not essential to complete in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. However, doing them helps players explore the story in more depth. Also, sometimes these side quests are mandatory to complete to get some legendary weapons or armor.
The Corrupt Daikan questline is important not only because it enriches the gameplay experience by offering challenging assassinations but also because it gives players an in-depth understanding of the narrative by addressing the sufferings of the citizens.
