Samsung has officially released its One UI 8 Beta based on Android 16 that was announced during its Unpacked 2025 Event. The update comes pre-installed on the new Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. Samsung One UI 8 is offering many improvements, like the powerful Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP). This feature will protect others, such as Now Brief, Smart Suggestions, and Samsung Moments.

Galaxy S25 and S24 Series Update Timeline

The Fold7 series ships with One UI 8 pre-installed. However, it is still anticipated for older flagships like Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S24 series. The company has not provided an official release schedule yet. Although, according to reports, the Galaxy S25 series may receive the update by late July 2025, with the S24 and S23 series expected to follow in August.

One UI 8 Release Date: An Earlier-Than-Usual Rollout

Traditionally, Samsung releases significant Android updates during the fourth quarter, generally in October or November. With Android 16 coming earlier this year, it seems that Samsung is rushing its One UI 8 rollout as well.

The update could be rolled out to a number of top-tier flagships as well as high-end mid-range models. Such models include Galaxy S25, S24, and S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, Z Flip6, Z Fold5, Z Flip5, and even the Galaxy S22 series.

Galaxy Tab S10, Tab S9, and Tab S8 series tablets are also likely to get the update. Budget-friendly models like A55 and A35 can also be in line. However, Galaxy S21 series might not be included, as the final big OS updates for that generation are coming to an end.

One UI 8 Features: Improved Security and Smarter AI

One UI 8 has the potential to bring a more polished and intuitive experience to the Galaxy ecosystem. The major new features may include:

Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP): It offers enhanced protection for on-device AI capabilities such as Now Brief and Smart Suggestions. Thus, developing app-specific encrypted storage within the secure area of the device.

Personal Data Engine (PDE): This drives on-device AI functionality, maintaining personal insights' security by utilizing KEEP and Knox Vault.

Knox Matrix: It may offer protection that spans the entire ecosystem on Galaxy devices. This includes automatic logout of the Samsung Account in case of threat detection and security status monitoring.

Quantum-Resistant Encryption: Secure Wi-Fi could support Post-Quantum Cryptography (EDP). Hence, boosting network defense against quantum threats in the future.

Enhanced AI Integration: One UI 8 extends the AI capabilities first introduced with the Galaxy S25 series. It can provide multimodal functionality, UX customized for different form factors, and personalized recommendations.

Increased Connectivity: Features such as Auracast, an effortless audio connectivity through QR code scanning, are rumoured to be part of the package.

Looking Ahead

The above-mentioned information is derived from insider leaks and rumors. An official announcement from Samsung is expected soon, confirming both the One UI 8 release timeline and supported device lineup. It remains to be seen how the new Samsung update revolutionizes user experience in reality.
