JioHotstar officially stepped outside India. On September 2, 2026, the streaming platform launched in the UK, Canada and Singapore, marking its first major international expansion and replacing Hotstar in these three markets.
The move gives audiences access to more than 160,000 hours of entertainment across 12+ Asian languages, covering films, television, originals, regional programming, reality shows, kids’ content and anime. JioHotstar also plans to add more than 30,000 hours of fresh content every year.
Here are the three countries to watch as JioHotstar begins its global streaming journey in 2026:
The UK is one of the three markets at the center of JioHotstar’s international launch. The platform is bringing a large selection of Indian entertainment to audiences, with a particular focus on the South Asian diaspora as well as viewers interested in stories from different cultures.
Subscribers can watch JioStar television content alongside films, originals and reality shows. The catalogue includes titles such as ‘Asur,’ ‘Special Ops,’ ‘Criminal Justice,’ ‘Heartbeat,’ ‘Dhurandhar,’ ‘12th Fail’ and ‘Chhichhore.’ Shows from networks including Star Plus, Colors, Star Vijay, Asianet, Star Jalsha and Star Pravah are also part of the offering.
The UK subscription costs GBP 19.99 for a quarterly plan and GBP 69.99 for an annual plan. Existing Hotstar subscribers can continue using their current credentials after moving to JioHotstar.

Canada is another important market for JioHotstar, given its sizable South Asian audience. The service brings Indian movies, television shows, originals and regional programming to viewers, along with some interactive features.
One of the biggest attractions is ‘Bigg Boss.’ The franchise is returning across six languages, with audiences in Canada, the UK and Singapore getting the opportunity to vote live across every edition. Canadian viewers will also get access to the 24×7 live feed, while Bigg Boss Hindi will be available in Canada 7 days ahead of its TV broadcast.
Canada will also get ‘India Ka Top 1 Percent,’ a new game show hosted by Anil Kapoor, alongside JioHotstar's wider entertainment catalogue.
The subscription costs CAD 19.99 quarterly and CAD 49.99 annually.
Singapore completes JioHotstar's first international rollout. The country offers a strong audience for Indian-language entertainment, making it a natural market for the platform's expansion.
Viewers can access content across multiple Indian languages, including shows from Star Plus, Colors, Star Vijay, Asianet, Star Jalsha and Star Pravah. The platform also brings originals, movies and reality programming to the market.
Singapore viewers will also be able to participate in live voting across the different editions of ‘Bigg Boss.’ The new game show ‘India Ka Top 1 Percent,’ hosted by Anil Kapoor, will also be available in Singapore and Canada.
JioHotstar costs SGD 29.98 for a quarterly subscription and SGD 69.98 for an annual plan.

The September 2 launch could be just the beginning of JioHotstar's international ambitions. For now, the company has entered the UK, Canada and Singapore, with plans to take the service to additional overseas markets over time.
There is one notable difference between the international service and JioHotstar in India: live sports are not available at the global launch. Existing content agreements mean the international offering is focused on entertainment rather than major sporting properties such as the IPL and other cricket events.
With more than 500 million active users in India and a catalogue of 160,000+ hours for its international audience, JioHotstar is now looking to turn its Indian streaming success into a global entertainment play.
