Tata Technologies Hit by Ransomware: 1.4TB Data Stolen, Hackers Threat Leak

Tata Technologies is yet to comment on an attack claimed by Hunters International

Tata Technologies, a worldwide engineering and digital solutions company, has been hit by a ransomware attack from the cybercrime group Hunters International. The hackers allegedly stole 1.4 terabytes of data, comprising 730,000 files. The gang has threatened to leak the stolen data if a ransom is not paid within seven days.

The cyberattack took place in January 2025, disrupted some of Tata Technologies' IT systems, although the firm reported that operations were not impacted significantly. While assurances were given that client services remained unaffected, the attackers have now added Tata Technologies to their dark web leak site, ramping up pressure on the firm.

No Confirmation on Stolen Data

Hunters International has not released samples of the stolen files or information about what is in them. The group is known for leveraging such threats to blackmail organizations into a ransom payment, with resulting data breaches if their demands are not fulfilled.

Tata Technologies, which is owned by Tata Motors, serves big clients like Airbus, Honda, Jaguar, and Ford. This is not the first time the company’s data has been compromised. In the past, its subsidiaries, Tata Teleservices, Tata Steel, and Tata Power have shown up on dark web leak websites.

A Pattern of High-Profile Attacks

Hunters International has made headlines since emerging in late 2023, with previous attacks on major entities like Austal USA, Hoya, and ICBC London. The group is believed to be a rebrand of the notorious Hive ransomware operation, known for aggressive extortion tactics.

Tata Technologies has not yet released an official response to the most recent allegations. The next few days will tell if the purported data breach causes further repercussions or whether the company can solve the issue before the hackers carry out their threat.
