How Samsung Wallet Could Bring Solana-Based USDC Payments to Mainstream Users

Samsung Wallet to Introduce USDC Payments for 82 Million Galaxy Devices, Using Solana Blockchain Infrastructure to Expand Stablecoin Transfers Across More Than 60 Countries

Samsung plans to introduce USDC transfers inside Samsung Wallet in late October 2026, potentially bringing stablecoin payments to millions of smartphone owners. The initiative combines Solana blockchain infrastructure with familiar mobile payment tools, although eligibility and actual adoption will determine its impact.

Samsung Wallet Targets 82 Million Galaxy Devices

On October 7, Samsung announced that eligible United States Galaxy users could access USDC transfers beginning in the final week of October. The rollout covers approximately 82 million compatible devices, not 82 million confirmed customers. Users must be at least 18, complete identity verification, and enable biometric authentication.

Unlike standalone cryptocurrency wallets, Samsung Wallet will let users transfer digital dollars without installing separate applications or managing private keys directly.

Cross-Border Payments Reach 60+ Countries

Samsung says users will be able to send USDC to compatible cryptocurrency wallets internationally, with no transfer fee imposed by Samsung. Receiving exchanges may still charge fees.

The service will also support eligible bank accounts in more than 60 countries, where recipients may receive local currency. Bank transfers will carry destination-dependent fees and variable delivery times. Samsung has not announced that every transaction will settle through Solana.

Solana and Sui are identified as infrastructure partners, making supported networks an important distinction.

Solana Stablecoin Activity Supports Expansion

According to the Solana Foundation, the blockchain processed more than USD 5.25 trillion in stablecoin transaction volume during 2026 through its October announcement.

The foundation also reported that stablecoin supply increased nearly 20% year over year. These figures show existing blockchain activity but do not measure Samsung Wallet transfers, which have not launched.

Coinbase reported that circulating USDC increased 72% during 2025 to more than USD 75 billion, while wallets holding USDC grew 59% to nearly seven million.

Custody, Security and Regulatory Requirements

Bastion will provide regulated payment infrastructure, while Coinbase Prime Vault will safeguard USDC as subcustodian.

Samsung says it will not hold customer funds or operate as a bank or money transmitter. Biometric checks, identity verification and country restrictions will shape who can use the service.

Why the Integration is Useful

The biggest change is distribution: existing smartphone users could encounter stablecoins inside a familiar wallet rather than through cryptocurrency exchanges. However, compatible device counts should not be confused with active users, completed payments or sustained demand.

Final Thoughts

Samsung's planned launch could simplify international USDC transfers and strengthen Solana's visibility in consumer payments. Its commercial significance will depend on actual transaction volumes, transparent fees, reliable conversion services and broader regulatory approvals. In-store stablecoin payments remain a possible future feature, not an announced launch capability. The initial launch focuses on transfers rather than everyday purchases at physical retail locations.
