Key Takeaways:

  • Circuit launches Automatic Asset Extraction engine to prevent permanent loss of institutional assets.

  • Kraken, Bybit, and Solana DeFi launch tokenized stock trading, allowing 24/7 trading of traditional equities.

  • Robinhood launches tokenized stocks and perpetual futures in the EU, and plans to build a new Layer 2 network on Arbitrum.

In June 2025, major developments significantly impacted key areas of the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Circuit unveiled a crypto recovery solution designed to prevent the permanent loss of institutional assets. Meanwhile, tokenized stocks launched across Kraken, Bybit, and Solana’s DeFi protocols, marking a step toward the fusion of traditional equities and blockchain. Robinhood also entered the tokenized stock space in the EU, alongside launching perpetual crypto futures and building a new Layer 2 network on Arbitrum.

Circuit’s Crypto Recovery Engine Targets Institutional Custody Risk

Crypto custody firm Circuit has launched a digital asset recovery system designed to address a long-standing issue: the irretrievable loss of private keys. The company introduced its Automatic Asset Extraction (AAE) engine on Monday, which can detect threats or lost keys and transfer assets to a pre-authorized vault without manual intervention. Two institutional clients—Tungsten, a UAE-based custodian, and Palisade, a custody infrastructure provider—are the first adopters.

Circuit’s CEO, Harry Donnelly, stated that institutional users prioritize asset recovery as a core requirement. “The permanent loss of assets is one of the biggest barriers to mainstream adoption,” Donnelly noted in a statement. While many crypto users accept that lost Bitcoin reduces the circulating supply, he argued that the concept does not align with institutional fiduciary obligations. His team believes that risk-managed recovery systems can ease concerns from financial entities exploring crypto custody.

According to estimates from Ledger, up to 3.7 million BTC—around 18% of the total supply—may be permanently lost. Circuit’s offering arrives amid growing institutional demand for secure custody systems that mitigate irreversible technical failures.

Tokenized Stock Trading Launches on Kraken, Bybit, and Solana DeFi

Backed Finance has confirmed that xStocks is officially available, which allows participants to participate in tokenized trading of more than 60 traditional equities. These tokens are already traded on centralized exchanges such as Kraken and Bybit, as well as on DeFi projects using Solana, including Kamino and Raydium. Real shares fully back these tokens and offer 24/7 trading, which is not available in traditional markets.

The portfolios include prominent companies such as Apple, Tesla, Microsoft, Netflix, and Coinbase. Phantom wallet support is also in progress, allowing users to swap and trade these tokens directly. According to Backed Finance, the product enhances exposure to tradable stocks, with the additional advantages of blockchain transparency and efficiency.

Bybit said its offering complies with the EU’s MiFID II regulations. Kraken, one of the oldest exchanges, also emphasized the advantages of managing assets on-chain with no volume restrictions and no delays. Future dividend support is under development on both platforms.

Robinhood Rolls Out Tokenized Stocks and Perpetual Futures in the EU

On June 30, 2025, Robinhood announced that it had launched services for European Union users. It currently offers more than 200 tokenized stocks and ETFs through its EU app. These exchange-traded notes give investors access to U.S. stocks, including Tesla, Amazon, and Apple. The stocks are tokenized on the Arbitrum blockchain, where settlement is faster and the fees are low.

The trading app further introduced perpetual crypto futures in the EU, with up to 3x leverage. The U.S., EU, and EEA regions now have Solana staking features and Ethereum staking. Robinhood has announced plans to build a new Arbitrum-based Layer 2 solution to increase the performance and scalability.

The move marks a strategic shift from crypto-only products to full-spectrum financial services in Europe. Robinhood’s stock rose over 8% after the announcement, hitting a new all-time high of $90.49.
