Since the introduction of ChatGPT and its various iterations, concerns about artificial intelligence have increased. According to a Bloomberg report, IBM's CEO has said that the pace of hiring for back-office positions like HR will be curtailed.

Arvind Krishna further claimed in an interview that he anticipates automation and artificial intelligence will displace about 30% of the labor force during the following five years.

7,800 jobs would be lost if only 30% of the workforce were to be terminated. Many people have expressed their concerns about the potential effects of artificial intelligence takeover on the labor market as a result of the rise of AI in tasks like writing text, generating code, and providing online customer service.

One of the most important tactics to be announced in reaction to technological advancement is the IBM CEO's suggestion that AI be used for traditional human functions.

Krishna has added that routine tasks like job verification letters would be automated and replaced by AI. However, human beings would still be responsible for carrying out HR tasks like assessing productivity and workforce composition.

At the moment, IBM employs about 2.6 lakh people, and it is currently searching for positions in software development and customer service. The CEO's claim that AI will eliminate jobs was accompanied by news of IBM layoffs. It's anticipated that this round of layoffs would affect 5,000 workers.
