On February 8, Alibaba Group announced that it is creating and testing a ChatGPT-like technology internally. Large language models and generative AI, according to the e-commerce behemoth, have been areas of attention since the Damo Academy, its research institute, was established in 2017.
Based on its present technical reserves in foundation model, machine learning algorithms, and natural language processing, Tencent Holdings stated on February 9 that it is undertaking research on the ChatGPT-tool technology. The company also stated that it will continue to invest in AI research.
On February 20, a group from China's Fudan University released MOSS, a chatbot that resembles ChatGPT. A spike in traffic caused the platform to fail hours after it launched, and the team apologised, noting that the model was still very young and had a long way to go before it could compete with ChatGPT.
The government-backed The Paper said on February 9 that Kuaishou Technologies is researching massive language models, which it will utilise to enhance its products like AI customer service.
On its website for investors, Inspur Electronic Information Industry stated that it has long made investments in AI-Generated Content (AIGC), ranging from mathematics, algorithms, and technology applications.
