With the penetration of AI in various industries, the next generation of job opportunity is on the rise. In United Kingdom only, one-third of jobs will be automated or are expected to transform as a result of AI influence. According to the latest report from global recruiter Robert Walters and market analysis experts Vacancy Soft, the emergence of AI will impact 10.5 million workers.
However, with the rise of dependency of businesses on AI, the pressure is increasing on the processes of data capture and integration. This subsequently results in creation of new set of jobs at the core. The current workforce cannot afford to not get skilled as per the demands as volume of data created worldwide is increasing on an average of 28 percent year-on-year since 2015.
Now is the correct time for UK to hone its talent pool for next generation of AI-powered jobs. Statistics represent that the demand for AI is already rising but skill shortage is the risk raising concern among industries.
IT professionals who are absorbed into data management are growing in demand within large and global entity. The vacancies for such talent has increased by 160 percent since 2015 and in general data-oriented profession roles have increased by 80 percent including data scientists and engineers. The most interesting development among these is emergence of data scientist as a mainstream profession with opportunities staggering 110 percent year-on-year. The trend for data engineers sees 86 percent year-on-year job growth.
The escalation of cybercrime has given boost to professional services, especially within banking and financial services. The BFSI sector is hiring information security professionals aggressively since 2016.
The job opportunities for professional services has increased with 19.5 percent vacancies for data analysts, 64.2 percent for data managers, 28.8 percent for data scientists and 62 percent for data engineers on year-on-year basis.
Agriculture, Business Support, Customer Experience, Energy, Healthcare, Intellectual Property, IT Service Management, Manufacturing, Technical Support, Retail and Software Development – are the top industries that are significantly investing artificial intelligence.
It can be clearly observed that retail, professional services and technology industries are developing digital products and services to engage and secure customer. This is resulting in huge waves of recruitment of professionals who are skilled in implementing, monitoring and gaining the desired result using facial recognition, check-out free retail and computer vision along with other automation tools.
Interestingly, experimental AI is making tremendous transformation in healthcare industry eliminating the need for human, expert diagnoses.
