Allegation Against Facebook: Child Predation Issue on Social Platform

Beware of the allegation against Facebook— block access to children below 13yrs of age!

Facebook or Meta! One of the top social media platforms with more than 1.5 billion users across the world. There are different age groups present in this social platform to interact with known people or strangers within a second. This has been declared that AI algorithms can only accept login details from members who are above 13 years, according to the Facebook policy. It can be a violation of Facebook terms if there is an account with false personal information. But, the current generation of kids does not follow this policy. Thus, this is increasing the child predation issue with their personal details and pictures. Let's explore how this allegation against Facebook is true despite having AI algorithms with trained data.

The allegation against Facebook for child predation issue

Kids below 13 years of age are creating Facebook accounts with false information to be on this popular social media platform. These children uploading their pictures, statuses, and information are the target group of some disturbing communities on Facebook. The pictures in the digital space are sexually aroused as well as these communities share or exchange such images without any barrier from this social platform.

The allegation against Facebook is that the AI algorithms are not reducing the cases of child sexual abuse. There are online abuses, asking for illicit photos and videos, or telling to join adult live stream websites, and many more. This is increasing because of the access of smartphones, internet connections, and social platforms such as Facebook.

Even if there have been reports of these groups blocking the pages permanently, AI algorithms cannot recognize the complaints. So, it does not respond properly and states that these child predation issues against groups do not violate community standards. AI algorithms support these groups on the social platform— these kinds of groups start coming with suggestions for "Groups you may like".

The allegation against Facebook for child predation issue is rising through other social platforms after receiving mixes of cartoons and other approaches to share sexual images on these groups. These groups do not contain any specific names, but numbers.
