Aerologix: At the Forefront, Presenting the Aviation Industry in a New Light with Drone Tech

Since entering the market, Aerologix has rapidly tackled the problems faced by customers in providing data on demand while utilizing an expansive drone pilot network across the nation. Aerologix was developed as a result of the identified need from enterprise clients in addressing the inefficient outsourcing of the right drone operator (with qualifications) and equipment in a specific geo-location, the prohibitive costs of in-house drone operations, and unusable data.

The Aerologix platform gives clients quality assurance in the pilot selection process for their project where every pilot must undergo a verification process, which includes registration, training, and an induction process. The company's algorithm-based technology also matches the correct drone pilot and equipment for the mission. The pilot network can rapidly connect with projects and complete them on demand. Both pilots and customers feel engaged and purposeful with the task at hand through this interactive platform.

The Front-running Drone Platform Across Aviation Operations

Aerologix's mission is to be the world's busiest and biggest drone platform, providing data on demand – anywhere at any time. After launching in Australia in 2019, the team experienced the opportunity to connect skilled, trained and accessible drone pilots to corporate clients across the nation. As of June 2022, the company has 10,000 signed pilots on the platform – 8,000 of these have been signed on in the last four months to work on enterprise projects.

Aerologix takes pride in its ability to implement a pilot network that can provide local employment in both metropolitan and rural locations. Operating within a local economy ensures that the team connects with communities to provide ongoing employment opportunities and operates as a part of the community. The company is incredibly proud of the support they were able to offer pilots in the aviation industry during the COVID-19 pandemic, as when their wings were grounded during the lockdown, the team was able to get them back into the workforce and the skies with the use of drones.

Besides being a front-running company in the aviation space, Aerologix is also planning for a major disruption in healthcare by using drones to deliver life-saving medical supplies to remote and regional parts of Australia soon. The company is working with the Royal Flying Doctor Service and the University of NSW School of Aviation on a trial to transport high-value medical items across regional NSW.

The Powerful Duo Changing the Norms of Drone Tech

Tom Caska and Rakesh Routhu, Co-founders of Aerologix, lead from the front and do not hesitate in trying to solve problems with the rest of the team. They believe that nothing is too big or small to be involved with, and include team members across various facets of the business. They encourage colleagues to level up and are invested in growing and developing them into areas they aspire to be. The duo reckons in bringing each member along for the growth ride that Aerologix is on, and the opportunities it offers.

Co-founders Tom and Rakesh appreciate the opportunity Aerologix currently possess as thought leaders in the drone technology space in which they have been able to utilize their expertise. This has included being affiliate members of the Tech Council of Australia, a government body providing a trusted voice for Australia's technology industry.

A String of Invaluable Services

According to Tom, Aerologix exists to alleviate the frustrations of the difficulty to source consistent, high-quality drone operators and equipment in a specific geo-location and the prohibitive costs of in-house drone operations. The company assists clients in navigating cumbersome processes in managing pilot qualifications and the licensing required for specific jobs.

He adds that Aerologix is the only decentralized Australia-wide drone technology network, providing unprecedented coverage with over 10,000 pilots. The team possesses the unmatched ability to service businesses with assets in the fastest, most affordable way.

In assessing the environmental impact that drone technologies can unlock, utilizing the Aerologix platform has significant benefits in reducing travel time and personnel out of the office, which is a more economical way of capturing regular up-to-date data and a significant reduction in carbon footprint, claims Tom.

Aerologix is also one of the few Civil Aviation and Safety Authority-approved drone services apps, allowing quick, seamless approvals for airspace and data capture. Aerologix serves as the flight operations control with experienced staff in operations management, regulatory approvals, data QA, and a seamless customer experience.

Disruptive Technologies as a Catalyst to Next-Gen Innovation

New technologies like AI and big data are improving the lives of billions of people in every industry, with a solution that is effective and efficient in enabling a new wave of innovation that otherwise would not have been possible, opines Rakesh. There are still a lot of problems yet to be solved for businesses and integrating these technologies within the next wave of innovation will allow them to discover solutions and assist in their own evolution. He adds that AI, big data, cloud computing, and drone tech are making lives and the economy in general, better.

Visioning to Become the 'Leading One'

While talking about new ideas, Tom assures that Aerologix's innovations eliminate the guesswork from data capture. The team is always looking at how they can improve processes and understand client pain points, leading to the development of its cutting-edge, patented technology.

Aeropath has put an end to human error and generates consistent accurate datasets for the customers. He highlights that the Aerologix platform ensures flight safety, regulatory compliance, and optimal mission efficiency. The company's innovative vision is to create a platform that will be the busiest and biggest platform in the world when it comes to drone pilots and connecting clients with their "pilot next door", no matter where they are.

A Garland of Recognitions and Client Confessions

Aerologix has experienced strong media attention in the last two years which includes features in:

The company also has several satisfied clients who have confirmed that Aerologix offers endless opportunities for pilots and global industries.

"I enjoy working with Aerologix as they encourage me to further develop my skills, which enables me to graft on a variety of projects but also provides the ability to establish a working relationship with clients on an ongoing basis. From Tom and Rakesh to the operations team, the Aerologix team has been incredibly supportive. I am grateful to be offered a more exciting array of jobs from mapping, thermal inspections, and telecommunication towers with unique opportunities to deliver specialist skills and enjoy what I love doing, which is flying drones," states Matt, Aerologix Pilot- South Australia.

"The Aerologix team were able to source drone pilots for our jobs that are professional, responsive, accommodating, have top equipment, met deadlines and ensured that they had everyone's safety top of mind. The best choice in Australia for drone capture." -LARKI (Property Developers)

Turning COVID Pains into Aviation Purposes

Rakesh remarks that the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the strength of the team in navigating the unknown and brought the team closer together in understanding more about each member. He continues that the year 2020 proved to be the pinnacle moment for Aerologix; Tom and he had been in discussion with investors in the USA who had effectively "shut their books" as the continuation of COVID-19 affected the world. However, instead of becoming quieter they only got busier as many clients started looking for a low-touch solution that could operate within lockdown rules. Aerologix became the answer for many large commercial pilots who had been grounded, following which they came on board as Aerologix pilots.

Integrating an agile, lean and adaptable approach across the teams has led the team to be able to achieve several milestones that it takes pride in, states Rakesh.

  • Aerologix was the first startup to get approval from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority in Australia – CASA for the drone safety application.
  • Innovative support – the vision for the development of Aerologix's "uber for drones" platform went from concept to working MVP in a span of just 2 months. This ideology is taken into the work environment. The team is constantly encouraged to propose new ideas to disrupt the areas they work in, they understand the cost-to-benefit ratio, take calculated risks, and are continually growing and adapting to changing needs of the market.

He adds that Aerologix successfully conducts operations, starting from "lifting the wheels off the ground" in developing the MVP, to pulling together as a team in being able to deliver a fully functional programmatic drone flight product within 12 months.

Towards Democratizing the Airspace for Drones

The drone industry is filled with opportunities and is expected to grow with a CAGR of 58%, reveals Tom. There are so many ways drones can help society through life-saving emergency AED delivery, helping construction companies design projects, and sowing the seeds for future agriculture fields.

Imagination is the only limitation where drones can take us in the future. He reveals that battery technology and regulations are at the forefront of this push. OEM suppliers are building drones that push flight ranges and payloads to new limits. In Australia, CASA has been working closely with the industry to allow drones to safely traverse the airspace. The company is currently working with CASA to create processes and democratize airspace for drone use without adversely affecting public safety. Tom concludes by saying that Aerologix is looking forward to the day that lifesaving drones can safely fly through our skies and help people in need.
