Three new iPhone user features have already begun trickling out on WhatsApp. The Meta-owned platform is now broadly releasing the conversation transfer function, landscape mode support for video calls, and the option for iPhone users to silence unknown callers, all previously exclusively available to beta testers.
For iOS users, WhatsApp has begun distributing the iOS 23.13.78 update, which adds three new features: chat transfer, support for video calls in landscape mode, and the option to mute obtrusive callers.
Users who don't want to rely on an iCloud backup can move their chat history to another iPhone using the chat transfer option. To transfer their chat history, users must download WhatsApp on their new phone, register using the same phone number, and use their old device to scan the QR code displayed on the new phone.
The Silence Unknown Callers feature aims to increase your privacy and give you more control over incoming calls. Its primary purpose is to provide an additional layer of protection by automatically filtering out spam, fraud, and calls from unknown numbers. Once enabled, these calls will be recorded in your call history rather than disturbing you with ringing notifications. This enables you to evaluate them later in case any of them turn out to be from someone important.
Compared to portrait mode, the landscape mode of the video call interface is larger and broader. This feature improves the overall video call experience by enabling callers to simultaneously see more individuals on the screen.
Along with the abovementioned changes, the update includes a redesigned sticker tray with improved navigation and a larger selection of stickers, including a wider range of avatars.
