California: California leads the United States with 199 billionaires, according to Forbes-based 2025 data. Its wealth is driven largely by technology, venture capital, entertainment, and real estate, with Silicon Valley and Los Angeles serving as major billionaire hubs.

New York: New York ranks second with 136 billionaires. Wall Street, private equity, real estate, media, and fashion create exceptional wealth concentration, while New York City remains one of the world’s most important centers for finance and investment.

Florida: Florida has 117 billionaires, placing it third nationally. No state income tax, a favorable business climate, luxury real estate, and an influx of wealthy residents have made Miami and other Florida cities major destinations for entrepreneurs and investors.

Texas: Texas is home to 83 billionaires. Energy remains a dominant source of wealth, but technology, real estate, retail, and private equity also contribute. Cities such as Dallas, Houston, and Austin anchor the state’s expanding billionaire population.

Illinois: Illinois has 30 billionaires, led by Chicago’s finance, investment, food, retail, and industrial fortunes. The state’s long-established corporate base and financial institutions continue to produce and attract substantial private wealth.

Massachusetts: Massachusetts has 23 billionaires, concentrated around Boston. Its wealth comes from technology, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, finance, and education-linked enterprises, supported by leading universities and a strong innovation ecosystem.

Pennsylvania: Pennsylvania also has 23 billionaires. Much of its billionaire wealth is centered in the Philadelphia area, with major fortunes built through finance, investments, retail, media, and long-standing family businesses.
