Meet the New Echo Show 16: Amazon has introduced a redesigned Echo Show 16 with a 16-inch Full HD screen. Its biggest display upgrade is an optional Nanomatte finish designed to reduce reflections.
What Is Nanomatte Display? Nanomatte is an anti-glare screen technology that uses a specially etched glass surface to reduce unwanted reflections while maintaining image clarity and colour accuracy.
How Does It Reduce Glare? The display uses a precise, pixel-aligned surface texture to control reflected light. This helps reduce distracting reflections from windows, lamps and bright indoor lighting.
More Than 90% Less Glare - Amazon claims the Nanomatte screen reduces glare by more than 90% and screen sparkle by 50%. These are company-provided figures, not independent test results.
Designed for Bright Rooms - The technology could be useful in kitchens and living rooms where sunlight or overhead lights often reflect off screens. It aims to make content easier to view from different angles.
Bigger Screen, Slimmer Design - The new Echo Show 16 features 10% more viewing area than its predecessor and a body nearly 40% thinner. It also gets upgraded speakers and a 13MP wide-angle camera.
More Than a Smart Display - With built-in Fire TV and Alexa+, the device can work as a streaming screen, family organiser, digital photo frame and smart home dashboard.
Nanomatte Comes at a Higher Price - The standard Echo Show 16 starts at $499.99, while the Nanomatte version costs $569.99 in the US. Amazon is offering a $100 preorder discount.
Is Nanomatte Worth Considering? For users placing smart displays in brightly lit rooms, reduced reflections could make a noticeable difference. The standard screen may be enough for users who primarily watch content in controlled lighting.
