Ticketmaster Barcodes Hacked: New Resale Markets Emerge

Shiva Ganesh

Hackers have reverse-engineered Ticketmaster and AXS's barcode system, enabling the resale of "nontransferable" digital tickets on other platforms.

AXS filed a lawsuit in May against third-party brokers who adopted this practice, as reported by 404 Media.

The hack was based on findings published by a security researcher known as Conduition, detailing how Ticketmaster generates its electronic tickets.

Using Conduition's findings, hackers extracted secret tokens that generate new tickets, creating a parallel ticketing infrastructure.

This breakthrough threatens to disrupt the controlled resale market, allowing tickets to be sold on platforms not authorized by Ticketmaster and AXS.
