Microsoft's Quest to Rival MacBook Air

Microsoft introduced new Surface devices equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite chips, which were directly compared to Apple’s MacBook Air during demonstrations.

The Surface devices outperformed the MacBook Air in various benchmark tests, including Geekbench and Cinebench, suggesting that Microsoft is now in a position to compete in the laptop market.

Microsoft showcased significant improvements in battery life, with the new Surface Copilot Plus PC lasting nearly 17 hours on a web browsing simulation, outperforming the MacBook Air M3.

Microsoft is leveraging AI through its Copilot+ PCs, which include neural processing units (NPUs) for running AI apps, and the Copilot AI assistant for Windows 11, for productivity boost.

Microsoft aims to gain an edge over Apple, as it introduces features like Copilot Recall for enhanced search capabilities.
