How Apple Pencil Turns the iPhone Duo Into a Digital Notebook

An iPhone That Can Work Like a Notebook: Apple's foldable iPhone Duo supports the Apple Pencil (USB-C), bringing handwriting, sketching and document editing to the smartphone experience. Its larger inner display makes it more than just a device for calls and apps.

Write Notes Directly on the Screen: Users can open the Notes app and write handwritten notes using Apple Pencil. It offers an alternative to typing reminders, quick ideas and everyday notes.

Turn Handwriting Into Typed Text: The Scribble feature converts handwritten words into typed text in supported text fields. Users can also edit handwriting by scratching out words or marking text.

Sketch and Draw on the Go: Apple Pencil works with apps such as Notes and Freeform for drawing and sketching. Tilt sensitivity also helps users create shading and vary line thickness with supported tools.

Mark Up Documents and Screenshots: Need to sign a document or highlight something important? Users can annotate screenshots, mark up PDFs and add handwritten edits using compatible apps.

Works on Both Displays: The Apple Pencil can be used on the iPhone Duo's 7.6-inch inner display and 5.4-inch outer screen. This offers flexibility for quick edits and longer writing sessions.

Only One Apple Pencil Model Works: The iPhone Duo supports Apple Pencil (USB-C), not the Apple Pencil Pro or older models. It pairs and charges through a USB-C cable.

What Are Its Limitations?: The USB-C Pencil lacks pressure sensitivity, double-tap and squeeze controls. Its usefulness also depends on app support and the relatively compact phone display.

Can It Replace a Digital Notebook?: The iPhone Duo offers a convenient way to take notes, sketch and edit documents while travelling. However, users needing a larger workspace and advanced stylus features may still prefer an iPad.
