Government to Take Up Digital India Bill to Test Deepfake Content

The newly appointed Narendra Modi administration is set to present a bill during the next session of Parliament to address the risks posed by AI-created deepfake videos.
Sources mentioned that the proposed law, Known as the Digital India Bill, will also examine more effective applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.
They noted that the government aims to secure support from across party lines before it is introduced in Parliament.
The next session of Parliament, which will mark the inaugural session of the 18th Lok Sabha, is scheduled to start on June 24 and end on July 3.
Earlier in the year, the Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, also expressed interest in the bill, indicating that the incoming government would address it.
