California Enhances Services with AI, Reduces Traffic

Prathima

California is partnering with five companies to develop generative artificial intelligence tools to reduce traffic jams, improve roads, and provide tax guidance.

State leverages AI from Microsoft's OpenAI, Google, and Amazon's Anthropic.

The companies will begin a six-month internal trial in which state workers will test and evaluate the tools.

All tools are considered low risk, meaning they don't interact with confidential data or personal information.

California is aiming to position itself as an AI leader and has started asking technology companies to develop generative AI tools for public services.
