WhatsApp Is Adding Powerful New Features!: From passkeys to advanced privacy controls, WhatsApp is introducing new tools in 2026, but how safe are they for your personal data?

End-to-End Encryption: WhatsApp messages are protected with end-to-end encryption, meaning only the sender and receiver can read the messages, not even WhatsApp itself.

Passkey-Encrypted Backups: WhatsApp now allows encrypted backups secured with fingerprint, Face ID, or device screen lock for stronger protection.

Chat Lock for Private Conversations: Sensitive chats can be moved to a hidden folder that opens only with biometrics like fingerprint or Face ID.

Prevent Chat Exporting: A new privacy option blocks others from exporting chats or automatically saving shared media outside the app.

Hide Your Location During Calls: WhatsApp can route calls through its servers to prevent others from seeing your IP address and location.

Messages That Delete Automatically: Users can set chats to disappear after 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days to reduce long-term data exposure.

Block Spam & Scam Calls: The “Silence Unknown Callers” feature filters calls from unfamiliar numbers to protect users from scams.

Extra Security Mode: A new high-security mode restricts unknown contacts, disables risky features, and strengthens account protection.
