Dynamic Yield is an AI-powered omnichannel personalization engine, helping some of the world’s leading brands increase revenue by automatically personalizing each customer interaction across the web, mobile web, mobile apps and email. The company’s unique technology combines data and activation in a single platform, allowing enterprises to onboard data from every touch point along the consumer journey and take instant action via personalization, recommendations, automatic optimization, and real-time messaging.
Dynamic Yield was born out of the frustration and vendor bloat felt by marketers when it came to delivering consistent customer experiences. Historically, this involved many different point solutions, everything from A/B testing to site personalization, product recommendations all the way to messaging, had to be dealt with in a singular fashion. And while the solutions to solve every pain point existed, getting them to speak to one another in an orchestrated way simply didn’t work.
The company knew that a cohesive experience could only be achieved once the data fragmentation associated with using point solutions was eliminated. That’s how Dynamic Yield, the end-to-end platform, came to be, combining the power of a unified repository for data with the tools to activate amazing experiences for true omnichannel personalization.
The Inspiring Journey of The Founders
Dynamic Yield is led by Liad Agmon Co-Founder and CEO, and Omri Mendellevich, Co-Founder and CTO. Liad is a serial entrepreneur with rich experience as a startup founder and Fortune 500 executive. He founded information security vendor Onigma (acquired by McAfee) and social search company Delver (acquired by Sears Holdings). Following Delver’s acquisition, Liad served as a VP of New Services at Sears Holdings and on the board of its Home Electronics and Outlets business units. Liad also taught at the Entrepreneurship MBA program in Tel-Aviv University and at the Zell Program of IDC Herzliya.
While working as the entrepreneur-in-residence at Bessemer Venture Partners, Liad Agmon reached the 20-article limit on the New York Times website. Due to his lack of interest in the last article consumed, Liad remembered deciding not to subscribe when prompted but realized had he been solicited earlier on when reading a more relevant article, he would have been driven to hit the “subscribe” button. Liad concluded that publishers, advertisers, and marketers were all developing content focused on reaching the widest possible audience, missing amazing opportunities to engage with key target audiences. A solution began to form: if content could be tailored to the right people at the right time, businesses could more effectively drive subscriptions, conversions, new users, revenue and more. But in order to do so, the optimization and personalization process would have to be automated. This revelation led to a conversation with himself, after which, Dynamic Yield was created.
Leading the technical arc of Dynamic Yield is Omri Mendellevich with over eighteen years of experience in developing profound big data, real-time systems. He was a Senior Team Leader at the Israeli Air Forces engineering unit and led an engineering team at Symantec. Prior to joining Dynamic Yield, Omri was Director of R&D at Virtual Web, an innovative startup company focused on enhancing the engagement between site owners and their user base with powerful social tools that can be easily embedded on any website.
As CTO of Dynamic Yield, a huge investment was made in Research & Development, allowing Omri to lead an amazing group of talented minds to support its technology efforts. With R&D and Product teams based in Israel and customer-facing engineers distributed between the company’s New York, Berlin, and Singapore offices, Omri manages a technology stack based on multiple open source projects including Redis, Flink, Kafka, Spark, Hadoop, ElasticSearch and many more. Under his steadfast leadership, the organization works to stay ahead of the curve, try out new technology, and provide its engineers with the tools they need to innovate and disrupt the market.
Delivering Innovative Personalized Engagement Solutions
Dynamic Yield was designed from the very beginning to be open and flexible, allowing businesses to seamlessly create powerful experiences by integrating with the tools they love and trust. This openness to the company’s platform means that regardless of how the industry evolves, as vendors come and go, Dynamic Yield plans to continue to be on the forefront of the customer experience. Knowing this has freed the company up to think bigger about how it can meet the future demands of global brands, which is why Dynamic Yield has been able to provide features far beyond the scope of what a typical tech stack or point solution can deliver.
Dynamic Yield’s machine learning engine ensures that each user or audience receives the optimal experience for them. Its algorithms test everything in real-time, constantly collecting user data and signals for automatic traffic allocation to the best possible variation for that particular segment at any given moment. All of this is done without having to subject the marketer to labor-intensive analyses, saving them precious time and energy to invest in other strategic areas. And with the quality of data, Dynamic Yield has the ability to perform the calculations at scale providing real, tangible value to its customers, beyond the “buzz” of AI.
Awards and Achievements
To date, Dynamic Yield has raised $45M in funding from investors like Bessemer Venture Partners, Vertex, and Deutsche Telekom Capital Partners. The company is proud to serve a prestigious and diversified client list, including IKEA, Urban Outfitters, Ocado, and Stitch Fix and more.
This past year, Dynamic Yield was named an official partner of Periscope®. With McKinsey, the company launched new integrations with Shopify Plus, Tealium, Adbirds, and ResponseTap. Dynamic Yield was also recognized as one of the top 100 AI companies in the world by CB Insights as well as named one of the best places to work in New York by Crain’s.
Business Challenges to Personalization and Growth
Personalization is a complex field with lots of moving parts and various potential applications that transcend marketing channels. “We’ve found a lot of organizations stuck in the trough of disillusionment phase on the Gartner Hype Cycle because they’ve put too much weight on the technology behind personalization and not enough on the foundations needed to build and scale a successful program. That’s why it’s now our top priority to help those interested in making personalization the cornerstone of their business and actually build a proper ecosystem around it in order to drive meaningful results”, said Omri.
Personalization has the potential to influence every aspect of the customer journey, making it not only appealing to most businesses but also a guaranteed strategic investment. At Dynamic Yield, the company’s mission is to help customers serve the most relevant possible experiences to their visitors, no matter who they are or where they are. Dynamic Yield is committed to ensuring its platform continues to evolve in order to best serve the unique needs of a rapidly changing consumer landscape.
The Future of Enterprises with Artificial Intelligence
The buzz surrounding this industry means there’s no shortage of companies looking to adopt AI. But as it stands today, the challenge this poses is that many don’t fully understand exactly what they would like their AI initiatives to accomplish. Once businesses learn to better define their goals, there’s really no limit to the possibilities made available through AI. And as these technologies continue to evolve at a faster rate of adoption, they will help inspire a new breed of innovations, pushing the capabilities of machine learning to the edge for both businesses and the larger global economy.
