Intel Faces Market and Timing Hurdles for its AI Chips in China

To compete with the Nvidia A100 GPU, Intel recently introduced its deep learning processor Habana Gaudi in the Chinese market.

Nvidia's A100 GPU's capacity in China is nevertheless restricted to 600GB/sec by US export laws.

To comply with US regulations, Nvidia has also issued modified A800 and H800 versions of its A100 and H100 GPUs.

The Gaudi 2 CPU from Intel, boasts that it performs twice as well as Nvidia's A100 in several AI benchmarks.

Additionally, it shows that Intel is attempting to outcompete Nvidia in China's AI chip market.
