Google Requires Android Apps to Provide In-App and Online Account Deletion

Google is implementing a new data deletion policy for Android apps.

According to the search engine behemoth, the goal is to offer a readily discoverable option.

Developers must give users an in-app path and a web link resource to request the deletion of app accounts.

Developers wanting to save specific data for legitimate reasons must state such data retention practices upfront.

The new guideline is likely to take effect early next year, with developers having until December 7, 2023.
