Google Agrees to Delete Incognito Browsing Data

IndustryTrends

Google has settled a class-action lawsuit by agreeing to delete millions of records related to users’ browsing activities.

Lawsuit filed in 2020 claimed Google collected data from users in Chrome's "incognito" mode.

While incognito mode allows users to turn off data collection, other Google tools still collected their data, according to the suit.

As part of the settlement, Google will expunge “billions” of data records reflecting private browsing.

The agreement also includes changes to disclosures and allows incognito mode users to block third-party cookies for the next five years.
